Did you know you can stay up on California coast and ocean policy easily each week? You did if you already listen to our podcast, Protect & Enjoy!
In this week's episode, we cover new President Joe Biden's slew of executive actions aimed at undoing some of the harm done by the Trump administration including rejoining the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, directing federal agencies to immediately review and address regulations and actions taken during the last four years that were “harmful to public health, damaging to the environment, unsupported by the best available science, or otherwise not in the national interest.”
On the state front, our California legislators have been busy proposing all kinds of new laws, particularly having to do with climate change and plastic pollution reduction. We’ll give you a full overview next week on those – and you’ll be hearing about the most important ones and what you can do to help throughout the legislative session.
This episode also features a "Simple Swap" from Olivia for the Ocean, helping you live your best plastic-free life, and our weekly Factoid from staff scientist Katie Day, courtesy of Beachapedia. How much do you know about the atmospheric rivers drenching the Pacific Northwest?
We hope you give a listen! And when you do, please rate, review, subscribe and share! Feedback and questions welcome at jsavage@surfrider.org.
