This Week's 'Protect & Enjoy': Big Water Battle Hits Decision Time

Written by Surfrider Humboldt | Jul 29, 2020 10:05:50 PM

Hey friends! As we do each Monday (or sometimes Tuesday) Surfrider Foundation’s California team presents you with a new episode of Protect & Enjoy, Surfrider’s California policy podcast.

This is a big week for Surfrider’s long campaign to stop a destructive ocean desalination plant from being built in Huntington Beach. California Policy Coordinatore Mandy Sackett explains exactly what is happening, why it’s bad and how you can help. It would feel great to finally defeat this ridiculous, expensive, destructive, exploitive project. Please add your voice to this cause.

In our Factoid segment, Surfrider intern Lynsey Atkinson presents the cool science nugget of the week courtesy of Beachapedia.org. Check out the cloud study she references here (or in the show notes, natch.)

Coming up next week we’ll report out on how things went with Poseidon’s attempt to get a permit at the Regional Water Board, provide a legislative update and get you up to speed on other critical campaigns happening in California.

If you’re not already a member, please – join. If you’re not already involved with your local chapter – reach out
