You might think the recent lack of ocean desalination conversation has been a "no news is good news" situation, but as we find out in this week's podcast, proponents of Poseidon's huge, expensive, creature-killing project have only slowed down as a political strategy.
We do offer some good news, however, as our chapters continue to thrive despite the current limitations on in-person gathering due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Here's one cool example: our San Francisco and Marin chapters are co-hosting a premiere of She is the Ocean, a film following nine extraordinary water women across the globe. The screening takes place Saturday evening and features a Q&A with the director and chapter volunteers after.
Finally, staff scientist Katie Day offers up a weekly Factoid courtesy of Beachapedia.org, this time about how even though we can't yet stop the accumulation of plastic in our waterways, scientific models can provide guidance on how to slow down the amount of pollution created as we move toward a zero-waste future.
