Victory Update // Long Beach Polystyrene Ban

On May 4, Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia signed into law the citywide polystyrene ban! Congrats to Surfrider Foundation Long Beach Chapter and other local activists for this important Coastal Victory that is bound to help reduce plastic pollution on the beach and in the ocean! When we think of plastic pollution, we think of images of plastic bags on the beach, suffering marine life, and the almost invisible smog of microplastics in our ocean. What often gets overlooked is the fact that conventional plastic is made from fossil fuels, and is a product of the oil and gas industry. More here.
